A new winner for the Miss Mississippi 2010 was crowned Saturday June 10th 2010, Sarah Beth James, is no officially Miss Mississippi 2010, she was crowned at the Vicksburg Convention Center in Mississippi. She competed in the evening wear and on stage question that discussed the importance of organ & tissue donation which was her stand.

Miss Mississippi 2010 was hosted by Taryn Foshee who held the Miss Mississippi crown back in 2006. The 2nd place Miss Mississippi runner up was Jill Duckworth who was named miss spirit of the south, also received a bouquet of roses for her swimsuit competition score. All girls are actively in college and Sarah Beth James is a communications major at Mississippi State University. During the talent phase of the Miss Mississippi pageant every one of the forty five contestants for Miss Mississippi delivered stellar performances.

In her first press conference on Sunday, James said she is very excited to be in the competition for the 2011 Miss America pageant in Las Vegas. She has been preparing immensely by working on her talent, as well as getting in tip top shape for the swimsuit competition and most of all representing and supporting her home state in the Miss USA contest of Mississippi.

James’ prize from the Miss Mississippi was a $10,000 scholarship and she succeeds last years Miss Mississippi winner Anna Tadlock. Tadlock of Brandon Mississippi wants to pursue a degree in English and has a goal of one day becoming an English Teacher. Tadlock’s biggest challenge is time management, after entering to become Miss Mississippi being Miss Mississippi takes up a lot of time but that is one thing that she is very OK with.

The Miss Mississippi preliminary nights end with the host announcing the contestants names whom scored the highest in the Miss Mississippi swimwear and Miss Mississippi talent competition, that is the tradition they have here in Mississippi, and they actually had a rare occasion happen a few nights ago; there was actually a tie in both talent and swimwear, when Miss Mid south Danielle Smith and Miss Meridian, Mary Margaret Roark both shared the high score in Swimwear and Miss Heritage, and Miss Rankin County were both honored for their singing in the talent competition with flowers.
